Food Friday: Recipe for Amish Sugar Cookies

These are seriously addicting cookies.  (From "Taste of Home Christmas Cookies and Candy" 2008) They're better than the ordinary sugar cookie--lighter.  Not so dry, but maybe it's that cup of butter!  Anyway, if you're going to make a dessert, as my friend, Lynn, always says, "Make it good!" (and it's no time to worry about it being healthy!)  You will love these cookies.  (Note: We used canola oil.)
Amish Sugar Cookies
Yield:  approx. 5 dozen cookies
Ingredients:
1 cup butter, softened
1 cup vegetable oil
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup confectioners' sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
4-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cream of tartar
Directions:
In large bowl, beat the butter, oil and sugars.  Beat in eggs until well blended.  Beat in vanilla.
In separate bowl, combine flour, baking soda and cream of tartar; add to creamed mixture, mixing well.
Drop by small teaspoonfuls on ungreased baking sheet.  Bake at 375 degrees for 8-10 minutes.
Enjoy!
