Have you any room?

The question was asked and answered,
"No room!"
when Joseph and Mary sought a place in Bethlehem.
The question was asked and answered,
"Crucify Him!"
when He died for our sins upon a cruel cross.
The question is asked today and how will it be answered in your heart?

Is there a "tempest" your voice cannot make be quiet?
Is there an emptiness inside you that nothing seems able to fill?
Let Jesus come into your heart!

Have you any room for Jesus?
Have you any room for Jesus,
He who bore your load of sin?
As He knocks and asks admission,
Sinner, will you let Him in?

Room for Jesus, King of glory!
Hasten now, His word obey;
Swing the heart's door widely open,
Bid Him enter while you may.

Room for pleasure, room for business,
But for Christ the Crucified,
Not a place that He can enter,
In the heart for which He died?

Have you any room for Jesus,
As in grace He calls again?
O, today is time accepted,
Tomorrow you may call in vain.

Room and time now give to Jesus,
Soon will pass God's day of grace;
Soon thy heart left cold and silent,
And thy Saviour's pleading cease.
Arr. by Daniel W. Whittle, 1840-1901
C. C. Williams, 19th century

Let Jesus Come Into Your Heart
If you are tired of the load of your sin,
Let Jesus come into your heart;
If you desire a new life to begin,
Let Jesus come into your heart.

Just now, your doubtings give o'er;
Just now, reject Him no more;
Just now, throw open the door;
Let Jesus come into your heart.

If 'tis for purity now that you sigh,
Let Jesus come into your heart;
Fountains for cleansing are flowing near by,
Let Jesus come into your heart.

If there's a tempest your voice cannot still,
Let Jesus come into your heart;
If there's a void this world never can fill,
Let Jesus come into your heart.

If you would join the glad songs of the blest,
Let Jesus come into your heart;
If you would enter the mansions of rest,
Let Jesus come into your heart.

Just now, your doubtings give o'er;
Just now, reject Him no more;
Just now, throw open the door;
Let Jesus come into your heart.

Greetings from Wordwise Hymns. It's interesting to my how many folks connect Daniel Whittle's song, "Have You Any Room for Jesus?" with Christmas. It actually seems to draw more of its inspiration from Revelation 3:20. But the theme is, of course, relevant for every day of the year. I invite you to check out my blog for today on the hymn. God bless.
