Love and Marriage: Showing Unconditional Respect For Your Husband

Do you realize what a huge thing it is to your husband that he would literally die for you?!

I didn't.  The last week or so we have been watching the "Love and Respect" DVDs by Emerson Eggerichs with our grown children.  (Married couples:  I highly recommend going to a Love and Respect conference, or getting the conference on DVD--get the most recent version; it is tremendous, and communicates a message that is not being spoken today--women need love, but men need respect.)

We are different, ladies!  Men and women are different!  He's "not wrong, just different!"  If a burglar broke into your home while you lay in bed sleeping tonight, he would not cower and send you out there with a bat--he would protect you and your children, or die trying!!  Do you respect him for that?

The Word of God says,
"Greater love hath no man than this,
that a man lay down his life for his friends."
John 15:13

He loves you.  He just shows it a different way than you do.  Show him unconditional respect, just as you desire unconditional love.

Why not write your husband a note today that says, in effect, I appreciate that you would die for us, if necessary, and I respect you for that. (It was suggested in the DVD that you could also write your appreciation for the fact that he takes responsibility for going to work every day to provide for your family, and don't sign it,  "Love, Your Wife", but "With Great Respect..., or "I respect you, your wife".)  Using the word respect, he suggests, is speaking in your husband's "love language".  Try it, and let us all know the results, ok?

Another great post Wendy! Hubby and I read Love and Respect when we were first married. I should dig it out and read it again! Another one we really liked is The 5 Love Languages...not very theological haha but great for understanding how we communicate.

My summer classes just started this week so I haven't had as much time as I would like catching up on my blogging and I'm not caught up with you :(

Anyway sorry you couldn't comment on my blog! I just took off the commenting system I had..I guess a lot of people had trouble! I spent all day today trying to fix my html haha.

I'm so glad that you are excited for our shop!! We are obviously very excited as well! And is a great bonding time for my sisters and I! Artfire is just like Etsy. It's an online homemade selling site but it's a new site so they let you post items for free whereas Etsy charges $0.20/item. But Etsy is established and has a lot more traffic. So we are going to try more and if we have enough traffic and sales on Artfire then we may completely switch. But we'll see!

And your so cute! I'm glad I can education you haha because you always educate me when I'm on your blog :) Every one of your posts is amazing and so edifying. Thank you so much for blogging!! It was definitely providential that I found your blog!

Yeah I love Thomas Nelson! Many of my favorite authors publish on Nelson. And Nelson is great about giving you books. I saw a new book that was being released so I found who to email and just asked for a copy! So they sent me two copies! It was a book I would have gone to the store to buy and I got it for free :) I'm just a bargain hunter that I just love that!! Haha!

Oh I love love love Historical Fiction! It's one of my favorite! I have a lot of books on my shelf that I need to catch up on! One day I will lol.

I wish I had a nickname for you...but Wendy is not very easy..haha. I'll come up with one...

Have a great day _______ {Insert nickname later ;)}
