Thankful Thursday: His Unfailing Presence

His Unfailing Presence

Another year I enter
Its history unknown;
Oh, how my feet would tremble
To tread its paths alone!
But I have heard a whisper,
I know I shall be blest;
"My presence shall go with thee,
And I will give thee rest."

What will the New Year bring me?
I may not, must not know;
Will it be love and rapture,
Or loneliness and woe?
Hush! Hush! I hear His whisper;
I surely shall be blest;
"My presence shall go with thee,
And I will give thee rest."

I'm grateful for many things today:
A quieter time to spend at home with family between Christmas and New Years.  Health: another year cancer-free. My two grown children walking with the Lord. One year closer to heaven.  That God is in control, no matter what happens. That He promises to never leave me nor forsake me. That He is at work in me and my circumstances even when I cannot see His Hand. For a very blessed life.

No matter how you look at it, the world is not going well.  We are definitely in the last times.  Though I have many blessings, and am not suffering, I do not look at this world as a place I would want to stay in forever.  I am exceedingly grateful for heaven.  I think that the Lord made the human spirit to long more fervently for "home"--heaven--the nearer we approach to it.  And as loved ones who were saved precede me in death, it seems closer than ever.  But as long as I'm here I have work to do.  I'll be setting goals for the new year soon.  I'm grateful that God has given me time here to share with others the Good News, but I know I fail miserably, and pass up opportunities.  I'm grateful for His mercy. And I pray I'll do better in the coming year.

I'm so thankful for you, a true Titus 2 woman. It's been a blessing to get to "know" you this year. Thank you for all the encouragement you bring to those of us who are just starting out on the journey of raising our children to love the Lord.

Oh, Jessica, what sweet encouragement it is to read your comment. Praise the Lord that you've found encouragement here. I'm very grateful to have "met" you this year, as well! It's such a blessing.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend with your family, closing out the old year and bringing in the new.

Thank you for commenting. Each day is new with new compassion and mercy and I am very grateful. Lamentations 3:22-24: "It is of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. 23They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. 24The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him."
Blessings to you and your family on your beautiful island:)and Happy New Year to you, too!

I really liked the poem, Wendy! No matter what, HE will go with me every step, and HE will give me REST...

I am thankful for the work God is doing in me and in the life of my family. I am grateful for friends (like you!). I am so very undeserving, but yet so deeply humbled by the gracious gift of God's salvation...

Hope you have a very Happy New Year - and GOD BLESS!

Hi Wendy,

Thanks for stopping by my blog. It's so good to hear from you.

Thank you for sharing your thankful heart too. Thank God for blessing you in many wonderful ways with His presence and love. Truly this is not our home and I am looking forward too to the day when I can be with our Lord to enjoy His love and fellowship forever when my work assigned by Him is completed here. What a blessed hope! Meanwhile, it is a great encouragement indeed that He is with us and will never leave us nor forsake us. He is working all things for His glory and our good through all the changing scenes in life.

I wish you a very blessed new year and may God continue to bless you and family in this new year with His love, peace, joy and many blessings. Take care!

Love,
Nancie

Sharon,
Keep on, because you're serving Him greatly, and also keep resting in Him--may He get all the glory and show Himself strong on both of our behalf, 'cuz we are ALL so undeserving, and I totally join you in gratitude for His gracious gift of salvation! Happy New Year, Sharon!

Nancie,
I have a picture in my heart and mind tonight of my sisters (and brothers) around the world who love the Lord, and all of us are holding hands and smiling and raising our hands and voices up to praise Him. And we are working for Him in each of our parts of the world, under His direction. There's such joy, because we're one! And we're everywhere in the world. (I don't usually get "visions" :) but that is a sweet picture for me.) I'm so thankful for sisters like you, and I praise God for you and the glory you bring to the Savior. God bless you richly, Nancie, in the New Year!
