Spring Cleaning: Timely Tips on Tuesday

I have learned that the key to finishing any large task is tackling small chunks of it at a time. Though I am not fanatical on Spring or Fall Cleaning, I do like to do a deeper cleaning yearly.  Here is a non-comprehensive list of tasks which I try to accomplish at least once a year, either in the fall or spring (this list is from memory, so I might forget some of the jobs, and I will have to add them later):

Kitchen:
Wash the outside of my cupboards
Clean the oven
Wash the curtains
Wash the windows
Clean out the Pantry cupboard
Wash out and straighten the silverware drawer, the spice drawer, and any inside cupboards which need it.

Living Room:
Wash the valance
Dust the woodwork
Vacuum the registers
Wash the cloth on top of the piano

Family Room:
Thoroughly dust the Computer center area, the hutch, decorations, bookshelves.
Clean out and organize the two cupboards beneath the other two bookshelves, and straighten the books.
Rearrange the furniture, and vacuum the cushions, and underneath and behind the moved furniture.
Dust the woodwork
Vacuum the registers

Bedrooms:
Wash the curtains.
Change and/or wash the bedding:  bedspreads, comforters, replace or clean pillows.
Straighten drawers underneath our bed.
Dust any cobwebs in corners or behind bedstands, etc.

Bathrooms:
Wash outer shower curtains.
Replace shower curtain liners.
Wash out and straighten the medicine cabinet.

I am nowhere near getting done with all these jobs:)  It usually takes me all spring, summer and into the fall to get them all done, and often I don't make it, but it gives me "something to shoot for," as my husband always says.

OK, I'll tell you what...I'm going to let YOU do my spring cleaning!! You are an organizational whiz!

Usually, spring cleaning is a matter of all the usual stuff. "The Hub" does the tough stuff - window cleaning, outdoor stuff, and tree trimming.

Me? I do the inside stuff - and I'm also really good at delegating!! :)

Hope you had a wonderful Easter!

GOD BLESS!

Sharon,
Well, I'm really good at delegating, too! We are a family, and we all get involved in Spring Cleaning, cuz we all help get it dirty! My son does the window washing, and because he has a side business doing this, my husband pays him for the service. My daughter helps me with all the kitchen organization and cleaning. My husband does all the outside work. We have a sneaking suspicion that he actually looks for work to do outside, just because he loves being out there:)
The trick is doing one or maybe two of these things a week, and then it isn't too hard, and accomplishes the work over the course of a year.
I'm definitely not a whiz! "Work smarter, not harder" is my motto!!

Wendy,
LUV the format for your blog! TKS for the tips...you go girl, and don't forget you're invited to the Rockies. Could use some of your tips and energy. :) BTW, vinegar/water is a great cleaner for many cleaning jobs...Happy Springtime and blessings from here!

Thanks for the invite to the Rockies, Bobbe! Everyone I've ever known who's lived there has loved it--and I do so love the mountains!! Someday you might just see me!
As for energy, I don't have very much, and that is why I space out my spring cleaning over months! It really should be called Sprill, Sprall, or Fring Cleaning--haha, because it's spread out so! And I do have a lot of help from my grown children and hubby. For those who don't have children to help them (either none at home any more, or too young to help) I recommend having a young girl come and help you for a few days, or a few hours here and there. I did that when my children were small. Our daughter has helped other families with small children, too. It gives them good experience and encourages a servant's heart to be able to help others!
Thanks so much for stopping by, Bobbe! I've been thinking about you and your hubby--hope he's doing better!
Love,
Wendy
