Thankful Thursday: Encouragement from Other Bloggers

The day didn't start off well.  And honestly, I felt like crying.  Nothing really wrong, and I knew it.  I just felt discouraged--in a spiritual battle.  I reluctantly kept putting one foot in front of the other. Then I read a post by my good blogging friend, Sharon, over at Sharon Sharing God.  It was on the subject of Encouragement.  You have to go over and read it.

She points out quite aptly how we sometimes think we're encouraging someone when we come along and say, "That's alright, everything will be better soon."  That may feel good sometimes, but that would have been inadequate to what I needed today.  In her post today, she not only wrote of the deeper meaning of encouragement, but exemplified it.

She came alongside me where I'd fallen on the muddy battlefield, wiped the mud off of my face (it made it easier as it was mixed with my tears:), helped me to my feet and handed me my sword. Then she lifted me to action beside her, as we charged off to fight the enemy once more.  Wiping tears from my eyes, I got up from the computer and went to my room and knelt by my bed and talked to the Lord.  I, with renewed courage, put on the whole armor of God.  I remembered and recited many verses of truth to myself, wielding my trusty Sword of the Word of God, and could fairly SEE the enemy stagger with the wounds it inflicted!

I went on to win the victory, energized to accomplish and defeat the "to-do list," which had been like a giant standing over me daring me to get up and tackle it at the beginning of the day. I didn't finish everything on the list, but with each new item I crossed off, my courage rose higher.  I was even able to encourage another! I could feel the prayers that were being offered up for me. What might have been defeat for me, and victory for the enemy, was turned around!  And I am thankful for Sharon, and every one of you, my blogging friends, who are doing the work of God out there!  Thank you for being faithful, and using every tool available to you, which is given you by our Mighty God and Loving Father, the King of Kings.

Link up and read other thankful posts at Lynn's blog, Spiritually Unequal Marriage. Without even knowing it, the Lord led me to write today about friendship in my online world, which is the subject matter of Thankful Thursday this week! Isn't He amazing?! What are you thankful for today?

Wendy - I'm so touched. That I was able to help you, my friend - and that God took whatever I said and blessed you. I'm humbled that He used me in this way. It was really HIM speaking to me in this post, because I needed this message myself.

The Holy Spirit teaches and reaches us in ripples - He drops a pebble here - a thought, a word - and the ripples just spread out. Your words have "bounced back" and en-couraged me today also.

I've got my sword, I'm linking up with your arm, and HERE WE GO!

Onward Christian soldiers!!

GOD BLESS!

Dear Wendy,

I have being truly EN-COURAGED! Sharon, is a dear friend to me also, and I was re-reading her recent post and the comments, when the Lord spoke to my heart. It's hard to put it into words, but, here I am. You have such an elegant and informative space. I would love to follow your space regulary, so I have joined your list of friends and followers. About me, I am a daughter of God, a wife to Leigh, and a mother to a wonderful son, Jaiden. We live in Australia - while I don't homeschool, I know that you have a lot to teach and I have a lot to learn, as we as a family face the many challenges/battles ahead. Jaiden is about to start back at school next Monday, he is eight and he'll be in year three. I look forward to getting to know you. May God bless you and your family. Keep growing and glowing for God. With love and care from Kerrie. xOx

Ah, Sharon, isn't God good?! The ripples affect others and truly bounce back to us, that is so true! That is the theme of the book I'm rereading right now! "Echoing and Re-Echoing" is the title and how it describes that ripple effect!

I neglected to mention in my post yesterday that the victory of accomplishing my to-do list was primarily because it included some items which I know God especially used, and so there was a spiritual battle involved: encouraging a younger mom by stopping by and listening to her share her heart; mailing off a DVD that will speak truth and blessing to the young moms in "A Mom Thing"; being a testimony to the unsaved who I interacted with...
When satan takes the time and bothers to interfere with "my little to-do- list" I know God's got big plans of multiplying my little fishes and loaves, and that's what I believe was happening yesterday.

I may have to post this addendum, as I think it was an important piece to the puzzle, and I neglected to mention it.
Thank you for your dear friendship, Sharon, and being such an encouragement in the Lord through your blog and comments!
Gratefully,
Wendy

Kerrie,
I'm so blessed to meet you and enjoyed your comment so much! Thank you for taking the time to introduce yourself--that was so nice and helps me to get to know you better. I really like that. You said, "I was re-reading her recent post and the comments, when the Lord spoke to my heart. It's hard to put it into words, but, here I am." I love it when the Holy Spirit moves like that and we're able to see it was Him. If He would open our eyes, we would see His Hand everywhere, I think, doing the extraordinary and miraculous, where we mistakenly perceive only our own efforts, thoughts, skill or talents have been at work.
I look forward to reading your comments and getting to know you more! Thanks, Kerrie,
Wendy

Julie,
You have no idea how encouraging your comment was--Wow! That is so GOD! You nailed it. What He does! Like calling out Hello and hearing the echo come back and back and back, He bounces the encouragement off of Sharon to me to you and back to me again--and who knows how many others in between!! I am in awe of our awesome God. "O magnify the LORD with me and let us exalt His Name together! Great is the Lord and worthy to be praised."
Thanks so much for sharing, Julie!

Thanks for sharing, I think this is one of the most amazing thing about the "blogger world" all Gods children can unite to help one another, and God uses us to help our sisters in Christ.

Karen,
I heartily agree with you! Isn't it a foretaste of heaven? and one of the evidences of the truth of the gospel. We are brothers and sisters in Christ, no matter where we live, or if we have met face-to-face, if we have His Holy Spirit living within us. That Spirit gives us oneness and what a blessed encouragement and help through the Word is possible because of it! I'm so thankful to the Lord for that.
Thanks, Karen, for sharing that!
