Easter Dinner Photos

We had a lovely Easter Dinner with my mom and her friend (ours, too), Clarice.  The ham turned out well. Did you read "How to Make an Easter Ham?"

The Ham turned out very well.

Saw your post on the comments on Raising Arrows regarding a homeschoolers home...I couldn't agree with your comment more, so decided to check out your blog.

I love it and I've followed. Sounds like we have much in common ;)

I do grow weary of experts in the field of raising children (after all, who is "expert", as we are all learning from God? I have 6 and another on the way, I qualify, to know my field too!) telling me that it's OK to just let things run chaotically, as that is better for "the kids". I think that's better for them, and I think God expects more from me.

God Bless!

Wendy, do you have a recipe for the strawberry dessert? It looks divine!

And my heart if grieved that you and Andrea believe what I wrote excused a messy home and chaos. I even went back and reread my post looking for where I said that. I just do not see that. These posts were to get at the heart of the matter and not the surface issues. I would love to dialogue with you more on this as I truly believe we probably DO agree.

Blessings,
Amy

No, no, no Amy! I don't think that was the point of your post at all. I think Wendy's comment just opened a can of worms for what I've been personally dealing with!

I know your point wasn't about just letting everything be chaotic..that's clear from your post, as well as your other posts!

I'm just in a place where I've been in a real struggle. In real life all homeschoolers I know are "fly by the seat of your pants" type people, and I'm consistently wondering if I have it wrong..

I've prayed a lot that God will show me if I'm in error by having a completely different focus than the families (which are great people) I know. They will ask me or us to come and do x,y, z with them, and I am often saying no because it won't be helpful to our daily goal..ugh..

So I think I just sympathized with Wendy's sentiments, but they weren't necessarily reflective of your post! I should have chosen my words more carefully, AND I shouldn't have commented about it here, as I think that is pretty much gossipy on my part. Please accept my apologies for that. I let my emotions of "YES! Someone else who understands!" take over..

I love your blog Amy, and my new find here, as well. I'm a follower of both. I think I need to work on the fact that many people will have other approaches to their lives, and while they may seem happy in chaos, we wouldn't be. We thrive on routine, schedule, planning, nutrition and not fast food, etc. It's just hard feeling alone!

Anyway, sorry for the book. I just feel quite badly about my comments, and a bit in a strange place with my "alone-ness" to my commitment to husband/children/home/order..etc.

Hope you have a great day ladies!

Andrea,
Thank you so much for clarifying! I am glad you said you were able to see that from my post. I should have taken into account that you more than likely had some other circumstances you were bringing to the table. No need to apologize, b/c I do believe you are right. I just know that so many moms are so busy being about the business of the home they neglect those who actually live in the home.

The whole reason I am doing this series is because when push comes to shove all the schedules and chore charts in the world will not give you reason enough to homeschool.

And I hope I did not sound defensive! I was just trying to hear your heart on the matter as well.
Blessings,
Amy ps-Wendy, I hope you don't mind this discussion here! :)
